FF Clintaro

FF Clintaro with his new owner cleaning up in the show ring !

FF Clintaro

SOLD – Congratulations to Mariel of Pleasanton, CA!!

Update on FF Clintaro, “Cal”. Cal is now killing it in the Junior Hunter ring in the Bay Area and is qualified for Junior Hunter Finals 2023! This horse was absolutely stellar from the moment he landed and we are thrilled to see him living up to every ounce of his potential. Can’t wait to root for them at the Finals!

2013 Holsteiner Gelding (Clinton/Camposanto/Caletto), 16.2h. Barn name, “Clinton.” Imported February 2017 from Germany.

Clinton is a lovely type who will be an absolute top Hunter. Lovely soft canter, nice trot, beautiful jump, and no-prep attitude (no spook, doesn’t need to be lunged, and auto changes). He has an easy going personality and is truly a horse that, as my German breeders say, “anybody can ride.” Age 4, he’s already willing to walk into the hunter ring on a loopy rein and lope around in a lovely, steady rhythm with auto changes. Scope for the big derbies. It’s hard to say enough nice things about this horse.

His first week in the US included being transported to HITS Coachella and being ridden around the extremely chaotic showgrounds in arenas without fences (which worried me more than him!). This young horse took it all in stride and never set a hoof wrong, he has an unbelievable temperament. This is next year’s Pre Green Champion and future top Jr/AO Hunter!

Clinton spent the summer competing in the Baby Green Hunters with his amateur owner and also competed in the Short Stirrup Hunters with several young catch riders (videos of multiple riders toward the bottom of the page). Many wins in both divisions and, more importantly, absolutely consistent from show to show under multiple riders (ages 11-15 and ranging from newbie beginner to more accomplished). Eligibilities in tact and he will head into the Pre Green (and/or Young Hunter) classes next year (2018).

As of November 2017, Clinton is schooling 3′ – 3’3″ courses with the occasional 3’6″ single. Here is a video of his first go around an eq/medal-type course set at 3′. It’s worth pointing out that fences 2/3 (the short 2-stride line) are completely unrelated fences that are not set in line with each other. Not only did he happily canter those, but then came back at the end of the course to jump the aqua fence straight and continue straight down the 4-stride line. What a brain on this guy!

We followed up that “first eq ride” by setting the 2017 Maclay Finals course in the ring and sending him through it. As expected, he handled it flawlessly despite the extremely tight turns and close distances due to the limitations of adapting the large course to a 100 x 180′ arena!

Baby Green Hunters (to the win and Reserve Champion with a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd in the over fences classes) in July 2017:

The next two videos are rounds in the Short Stirrup Hunters with a 13 year old girl stepping up from a pony for the first time in the hunter ring (first video) and a 15 year old girl who’s been riding for only 2 years (second video). Both girls won classes on him out of 8-15 competitors:

Ridden by Sadie, age 9
Ridden by 12 year old beginner rider, Ava, during her first trip ever in the Short Stirrups
Blue ribbon round for 11 year old rider, Bryn Harvey!
